This profile series aims to bring some realness to the work-from-home conversation and hopefully, a bit of levity as we navigate the new normal of social distancing. At the end of the day, we are all in this together trying to do the best we can.

What type of work do you do and how long have you been working from home?

I work in eCommerce marketing and am going into my third week working from home.

Describe your work-from-home setup.

My work-from-home setup is in the dining room. I have a work laptop and I was allowed to bring home one of my large monitors from the office. I also brought home my wireless keyboard and mouse. This setup actually works for me.

What is your funniest or most cringe-worthy work-from-home experience?

My most cringe-worthy work-from-home experience has been all the video meetings with my boss, individually or as a team. She’s trying really hard, but they can be awkward. She likes to ask us to share everything we’re doing, watching, learning, etc. At one point, she even suggested a show and tell. It feels like we’re in grade school and all you can see are blank stares. I think she’s having a hard time with this work-from-home situation. We could probably benefit from a tutorial on how to stay connected with one another while working remotely.

What do you do to get into work mode?

To get into work mode, I just have to go to the dining room and work. Once I’m situated it’s not so hard. Plus lots of breaks help.

What are you most looking forward to when you can go back to the office?

Wait, I have to go back? If I’m being honest, I’m not looking forward to going back. I’ve been enjoying the work-from-home life.

Based on this experience, would you elect to work from home permanently?

While I’d prefer the home office of my dreams OR just a dedicated home office space (instead of the dining table), this has actually been working out well. I’d love the option to work from home full-time or even part-time.

And finally… real clothes, comfy clothes or a combination of both?

It’s been comfy clothes. Who are we kidding? It’s mainly been pajamas. I feel like I need to try on my jeans and real pants just to make sure they still fit.
