Shipping fragile items?

Since the start of Covid-19, the number of packages arriving damaged has increased by 20% (source: Shopify), which can negatively affect your brand’s perception. For extra safety, you may need to box your product. Some helpful tips when using boxes are:

1. Select the right size: Select a box that comfortably fits the items you’re sending. A box that’s too big might dent or collapse, while a box that’s too full could burst.

2. Choose the right void fill: packing things up properly may be the most important step.

Cushion wrap provides ideal protection for fragile and important items – it offers the most protection helping with absorption during transport, although it will not keep an item from sliding around in the box.

Packing peanuts are ideal for smaller, lighter weight items. They are designed to fill up empty spaces but won’t necessarily keep items from shifting in transit. Cardboard dividers and supports can make up for that.

Kraft paper is generally the cheapest option, but it doesn’t offer the same level of protection as cushion wrap or packing peanuts. It’s great for keeping items that don’t require much protection from sliding around in transit. It also works well in tandem with cushion wrap, keeping an already protected item from shifting during transport.

3. Seal it tightly: The shipping journey can be a bumpy one. You want to be confident your box will stay sealed and won’t have to worry about the box opening and contents getting lost or damaged. Choose a packaging tape with extra strength and durability.

*try Scotch® Box Lock™ Shipping Tape which is engineered for better box adhesion to get your package there safely.

Whether you are shipping outside the box, or in – seal up and ship out with quality products designed to ship, and business on.
